Must Indonesia join capitalism?
First, we must know about Indonesia's economy system. Indonesia's economy system is called "Pancasila" economy system. It is a mixed economy system, the way of this economy system is the resources which is important for the living of many people such as water, electricity, and gas is managed by the goverment. Besides that, the resources which are not inside the category from above such as souvenirs from food or materials, building material, and etc. are managed by private company.
The simple definition of capitalism is all of the resource must be managed by private companies. There are many positive and negative effects for capitalism in Indonesia. The positive side is the private companies can make a lot of income from selling oil and freshwater. They also can make new opportunity from selling new things, such as above. But the negative effects are pretty bad. First, because the resources which are important for living is managed by private companies, the poor people can't buy those things due the high price from the resources. Second, the psychology from Indonesia's people is to make income as much as possible, this can lead into the increase of price of the resources.
To increase Indonesia's wealth, we can do more things than just doing the capitalism. Indonesia have so many resources and cultures. Let's talk about the resources first. Indonesia is rich from it's agricultural products. There are many agricultural products which Indonesia have and the others dont, such as herbs and vegetables. There are many demands from this products, the Japan already order pasta from sweet potatoes from Indonesia for a long time. Even the simple herb just like cabai, kunyit, and etc. are exported to many Western countries. Coffee also a kwell-known product, Indonesia have a lot of coffee, especially in Java. Coffee has a high price in the world, because it's consumed everyday and the consumer of coffee in the world is increasing day by day. Indonesia have the most expensive coffee bean, it is the Luwak coffee. Luwak coffee's price can be 3 times higher than a Starbucks espresso. So, Indonesia have a lot of income just from it's argicultural products.
Beside agricultural products, Indonesia is rich in seafood. Maybe people don't feel it much yet, but if we pay attention to the seafood prices, they are lowered month by month. Indonesia people of course know about Indonesia's minister of fisheries, Susi. Thanks to her policy, any illegal boat in Indonesia's water must be destroyed or must be confiscated. So, automatically, the seafood price in Indonesia will be lowered.
Now, we talk about culture. In modern world, culture can be considered as gold. Many people amazed by many culture around the world. Just like the bird festival in Brazil, the Hawaii dances in Hawaii, and etc. But we focus to the culture which can directly impact to the economy world. Of course many people know that Indonesia is rich of cultures. Well, each culture has it's own creation. Just like batik from Kalimantan and Middle Java. In the eye of the world, batik is so valuable, until the Malaysian wanted to claim that batik is theirs. The price of batik in Indonesia is pretty cheap, but if it's exported, it can be so expensive.
Now for the hidden products. If you know expenive brand for fashion like Gucci, you will know that the price will be high. But, which not many people know, that 95% Gucci product's materials are from Indonesia. Even if you buy a rug from Mekkah, which is so expensive. But if you look closely, the rug is made from Gresik, East Java. So many people think that the products from abroad is more high quality, but the truth is we just lack of trust that domestic products is better than abroad's products.
If Indonesia can make a lot of money from Indonesia's resources, why Indonesia still become a developing country? Well, there are two majotr factors. First is there are so may corruptions in Indonesia, from the biggest until the smallest. This make a lot of loss in the country. Thats why there is a revolution of way of thinking in Indonesia. Second, Indonesia just lack of well management. If Indonesia can manage their resources well, it is believed that Indonesia can be a rich country.
So, with those two solutions, Indonesaia can be a rich country without doing the capitalism.
