is capitalism suitable for Indonesia?

Before talking my opinion about capitalism, it's good to examine a little about the meaning and history of capitalism. Capitalism comes from the word capital which means principal capital in commerce, while the person who carries out or groups that carry it out are called capitalists, while capitalism itself is a system and understanding of the economy (economy) whose capital (capital investment, industrial activity) originates in private or capital capital private capital companies with competitive characteristics in the free market.
Some experts define capitalism as a system that came into effect in Europe in the 16th to 19th centuries, namely in the era of European commercial banking where a group of individuals and groups can act as certain bodies that can start and trade private property, especially capital goods.

Individual freedom in the ideology of capitalism is upheld, this is one of the advantages of using the ideology of capitalism in the life of nation and state. With the guarantee of this individual freedom, every citizen can freely express his opinion. Freedom of opinion must remain in accordance with the principle of expressing opinions in public in his country. Because of this freedom, every creativity and innovation owned by citizens can develop well because it is supported by the right environment. We need to know together that one indicator of the progress of the country is the level of innovation and creativity of its citizens.

But in its journey, capitalism has had an adverse effect on the economy and social inequalities are increasingly apparent. That is all the impact of the cruel capitalism that occurs in some developing countries or third world countries. This is inseparable from the system built by capitalism, which makes third world countries dependent on developed countries (Capitalists). Dependence ultimately creates a pattern of asymmetric relationships between central and peripheral countries that allows countries that have dominant power to create rules that control international economic activities in order to fulfill the interests they possess, which leads to dependence, both in terms of economic and political.

The bad impact for Indonesia was when it entered the New Order era, where Suharto served as president. At the same time the capitalist era began to run in Indonesia. The New Order chose economic improvement and development as its main objective and pursued its policies through an administrative structure dominated by the military but with advice from Western-trained economists. The policies extended during the New Order period were basically very good, but in the process experienced irregularities. One of the deviations that occur is that the development of industries to increase community income actually actually makes rich people richer and poorer people get poorer. Even after the Soeharto era or the new order ends, the period of capitalism has not ended in Indonesia, and even continues and begins in the vital fields of a country such as education, where education is becoming increasingly expensive and not affordable by the small community, the consequences of education are made commercialized in order to gain profits. In addition, state assets owned by Indonesia are lost one by one as a result of being sold to foreign parties.

Now we can see and harmonize the form of capitalism in Indonesia directly. Lately in Indonesia it is very crowded about various news, especially regarding the biggest gold mining located in Irian Jaya which is a state asset that is managed by foreign parties, besides also offshore oil drilling which is also managed by many foreign companies, the sale of shares of telecommunications companies to foreign parties. Some of these things prove that Indonesia is very rich but the wealth possessed can only be enjoyed by a handful of people, thus causing the people to not be able to enjoy the wealth that is owned by Indonesia.

It is evident that nowadays there are more developments about understanding the economic system in Indonesia. This led to the formation of the assumption that in Indonesia today it follows the capitalist economic system that westerners bring to Indonesia. This is very contradictory to the ideology of Pancasila and the people we have embraced. And I agree more if Indonesia adheres to a social democratic economic system which is felt to be better able to organize the condition of a developing country.

And I agree that there is no need for some phenomena to emerge about capitalism vs. socialism. Because each system I feel has advantages and disadvantages. And Globalization that strongly supports its free market as a mode of capitalism in my opinion is very severe. Because this makes the widest gap between the strong and the weak.
Looking from the adverse effects of capitalism that Indonesia has felt and the impact it still feels until now, I feel the ideology of capitalism is very inappropriate to be applied in Indonesia. Because the ideology of capitalism is able to make economic inequality in Indonesia worse. In my opinion the implementation of the ideology of capitalism in Indonesia makes it difficult for the government to fix the economic disparities that occur in Indonesia.

For young generation, we must prepare ourselves to face unpredictable times. By preparing ourselves in terms of the ability of science and hone creativity to be able to compete in the free market. In addition to our knowledge and creativity, young generation must uphold the Pancasila values and religion within us too. With a good personality, the young generation can improve and maintain the prosperity of a country and can conserve natural resources for next generation
